MLS School Advisory Group
The MLS School Advisory Group is a representative group of the larger MLS School Library members who provide feedback to MLS consultants regarding CE workshop ideas, issues, policies and concerns of special libraries.
MLS Networking Events for School Librarians
MLS hosts two networking events every year for School Librarians, the School Holiday Program on the first Friday in December and the Summer School Institute in August. State and National Networks for School Librarians
ISLMA
The Illinois School Library Media Association (ISLMA) provides opportunities for members to share activities and ideas, and to advocate for legislation and funding for school libraries and librarians. The ISLMA Annual Conference offers continuing education and networking to members statewide. ISLMANET-L is an online communication network that is free to join and share information.
AASL
The American Association of School Librarians (a division of the American Library Association, ALA). The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) is the nationwide organization for School Librarians and Media Specialists which advocates excellence, facilitates change, and develops leaders in the school library media field. It offers Continuing Education opportunities and holds an annual conference for members.
ISBE
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is the location for information on certification for teachers and The Illinois Learning Standards.
NBPTS
The website for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and the required steps to prepare to become a nationally certified teacher.
